The Perfect Easter Weekend?

With the promise of four days off work and temperatures hotter than Spain, make the most of the long Easter weekend by feeding the family with delicious seasonal produce and soak up springtime in Surrey.

Here’s Fetcham Park’s top suggestions for where to shop, eat and visit during Easter.

Eat

Easter isn’t Easter without hot cross buns, chocolate eggs and roast lamb. Our pick of the best places to buy local, artisan produce is Hungry Guest for delicious bread and hot cross buns. Available from Secretts Farm Shop, which sells other tempting goodies.

For local lamb and other meat, we love Sondes Place Farm and Conisbee & Son, in East Horsley, near Guildford, the oldest family butchers in Surrey. As well as lamb, their burgers are pretty tasty too – time for the first BBQ of the year?

Other recommended farm shops are Crockford Bridge and Kingfisher, famous for its home-grown watercress.

Drink

Nothing beats a village pub on a spring day. Drop by the 2 AA Rosette Anchor in Ripley, The Cricketers or The Plough Inn, both in Cobham, and indulge in a leisurely pint or refreshing G ‘n’ T with the weekend newspapers. Bliss.

Walk

Step out in the sunshine and take a bracing walk to Box Hill. A popular beauty spot, this tranquil and peaceful walk offers superb views towards the south coast. A Victorian Fort stands on the summit and remnants of the British army’s defence against possible invasion in the Second World War still exist in the form of pill boxes and tank traps.
